John G. Berger, Jr. is the Founder and CEO of CIC Benefits Group, LLC, where he is responsible for day-to-day operations, client services, and management oversight of the regions most innovative and solutions oriented employee benefits consulting firms. CIC Benefits Group, LLC is a benefit-solutions company focused on facilitating outcomes and enabling organizational change resulting in controlling employers’ benefits costs now and well into the future. Clients leveraging CIC’s expertise include enterprising privately-held companies, public entities and municipalities throughout the United States.

Mr. Berger is also the Chief Operating Officer for Self Funding, Inc., a fee-based workers’ compensation consulting firm specializing in managing and controlling workers’ compensation costs.

John’s expertise lies as an executive; focusing on facilitating outcomes and enabling organizational change that result in controlling human capital costs of benefits and workers’ compensation and align goals and objectives of employers and their employees. John demonstrated experience in working with labor and management has resulted in positive outcomes for employers and the employees that work there. He is a flexible business professional with exceptional problem-solving abilities, centering on deliverables and task execution. John presents advanced communication, motivational skills and demonstrates strong leadership attributes.

Prior to his becoming a senior member of the CIC team, Mr. Berger was the Executive Vice President with Brown & Brown of New York, Inc., Chief Operating Officer/Owner of Niagara Insurance Group prior to their sale to Brown and Brown, and the President/CEO of East3, Ltd. of Richmond, Virginia. John has been fortunate to be in many leadership and client advisory roles with Travelers Insurance Company, Johnson & Higgins, Marsh and McLennan since 1988 and has regional experience ranging from Hartford, CT, Pittsburgh, PA, Richmond, VA, Washington, DC, Buffalo and Rochester, New York. He also has years of national experience in positions involving responsibility of global risk management, building practices, executing strategies and delivering solutions, enabling results.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Bonaventure University and is a graduate of the University at Buffalo’s CEL Program. He is currently a member of the St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute’s Advancement Committee; current chair for Rosa’s/Kids Escaping Drugs’ annual golf outing and serves as a Trustee for Mt. Irenaeus. He is a past board member of the Home School Association of St. Gregory The Great RC Church in Amherst, NY, former director/officer for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of New York, and past chairman of St. Bonaventure Universities Gaudette Celebration. He is a resident of Williamsville, NY.
